I have recently been faced with a dilemma. I love s’mores. There is something about the warm, gooey, stickiness that just melts in your mouth–and this is coming from a girl who hates to be sticky! And in case you weren’t aware, August 10th is actually National S’mores Day! What a great holiday! Unfortunately, I wasn’t aware of it, either, until people started posting things all over Facebook and Pinterest. I missed it. However, the holiday motivated me to start a Yummy S’mores! Pinterest board, and I have wanted s’mores ever since.
Here’s the dilemma. Since I don’t like being hot and it’s already a bagillion degrees outside (when it’s not raining), I knew a campfire was out of the question. Plus, that takes time and planning and I wanted my s’mores RIGHT. NOW. That’s when I came up with my No-Heat Shortcut S’mores. And I’ve concocted them in 4 different ways. Grab some milk, this is going to be good.
The ingredients for these No-Heat Shortcut S’mores include variations of what you’d normally need–graham crackers, marshmallow fluff (no stick necessary), chocolate hazelnut spread, and for the adventurous–peanut butter and coconut. (And don’t forget that glass of milk.)
First things first, break some graham crackers in half at the “short” line–you can break them the long way, but they’ll be messier! Flip your halves over so that the bottom of each half is facing up.
For the plain-Jane-yet-oh-so-good variation, start by slapping on some marshmallow fluff . Use as little or as much as you’d like. No heat needed!
Next, spread some chocolate hazelnut spread on the other half of your graham cracker. (Side note: did you notice that Jif has come out with a chocolate hazelnut spread? It comes in a bigger jar than Nutella for a bit less money–and it’s really good!)
Place the chocolate and marshmallow fluff sides of your graham cracker together, and you have created “The Original” No-Heat Shortcut S’more. But I couldn’t stop there.
For variation number 2, assemble your s’more as you did before, but throw some coconut on that bad boy. You now have a “Tropi-S’more.” This one is my absolute favorite. It tastes like my favorite Girl Scout cookie!!! I think the heavens opened up when I took my first bite. It was magical.
For No-Heat Shortcut S’more way 3, we’re going to start getting a little crazy. Before you add your marshmallow fluff, spread peanut butter on one half of your graham cracker…
…then top with your marshmallow…
…and squish it together. You now have “The Ooey-Gooey” and it will be the most delicious stickiness you’ve ever tasted!
Variation 4 is not for the faint of heart. You might want to check with a Doctor before consuming…because this time you add everything. Graham crackers, peanut butter, chocolate hazelnut spread, coconut…
Ladies and Gentlemen, you are now “All-In.”
These are the easiest s’mores I have made in my lifetime, and they made my belly so very happy! The best part is that I now have the ingredients on hand for the next time I get that gotta-have-s’mores-craving…no campfire needed!
What do you think? Have you ever made s’mores this way? What kind of “s’mores variations” do you make? I’d love to know your favorites!
